AFA 2013

This year, I went again for AFA (Anime Festival Asia) 2013! It was held on the past weekend from 12-14 November at Suntec City Convention Centre. So excited for this year's because there are alot more cosplayers coming over to share their experiences as well as exhibition booths for many animes and artistes. I went over with Jovial again like the past year! Our never ending dedication for the Japanese Culture always manages to bond us in a special way.
This time we went on the second day which was a Saturday, and bought the Exhibition + Stage tickets which cost $20. The Exhibition alone only costs $10. But guys, unless you have really good time management or there's really something you want to watch on the actual Stage, don't buy the Stage tickets too. Because in the end Jovial and I didn't get to go at all and by the time we were ready to, the concert was the next event LOL. So I guessed we wasted an additional $10 :(.
AFA 2013 had a greater array of exhibitions this year, featuring many series of animes that frequent anime watchers would know! I found a few favourites hehe. To name a few, Shingeki no Kyojin...
Sword Art Online...
I tried to take with every exhibition of SAO I could find hahaha. There were so many everywhere but there were also alot of people everywhere LOL. Always getting photobombed or people just crossing infront of the camera... Too many times to count. Plus if you have extra cash on hand, there are so many merchandise you could get. They have mouse pads, t-shirts, posters, jigsaw puzzles, so many others too. But I didn't get 'cos they were just not economical for my pocket D;
Even Visual Kei artistes Viv was personally there to give out autographs and perform!
And of course the main attraction (for me at least), the AFA Cafe!! Instead of previous years where the Moe Moe Kyun Maid Cafe and the Atelier Royale Butler Cafe was divided into separate areas, the cafe was all in one place this year. That means we get to see both maids and butlers! To tell you a secret, I really want to join next year heh heh. But looking at them, it is pretty demoralising for anyone 'cos they're really all good looking. :(
They even had an exhibition booth for Mangas this time round, but they are all in Japanese. After reading translated mangas online for god-knows-how-long, it was quite nice to pick up an original manga! Also, framed up were drafts for Crayon Shin-chan (or what we sgeans know as La Bi Xiao Xin).
After sight-seeing and having a wonderful experience at the cafe, Jo & I headed over to the mini stage to catch the Singles Cosplay Competition. Famous cosplayer Reika was there too.
The winner was this girl who cosplayed a character from Monster Slayer. Most of us agreed that she really deserved to win. Look at how elaborate her outfit and weapon was!

So we got really hungry afterwards and headed to this Japanese Restaurant at the Esplanade for Sushi! All plates at $1.50, so worth it. Even salmon sashimi, uni sushi and my favourite Chuuka Iidako too!
I had a wild of a time and am so looking forward to next year's AFA. Don't think I'll be able to fulfil my 2013 resolution to cosplay so its moving on to next year's HAHA. Tertiary life has made time so constraining for me that I can't handle my personal life, talk about cosplaying sigh.
Anyway, here's the rest of the photos I took during the festival. So looking forward to next year's!! Seeing people all dressed up and having common interests in mind just makes a fun party.
