My first ever trip to Bangkok, Thailand. It has become one of the most memorable periods of my life, albeit short; only 5 days and 4 nights. The most important, and also the part I find most exciting is the planning and researching done before the trip. I find out so many new things when I start searching for places to go and sight-see at.
Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport, we headed straight for the dtac shop at the first level to buy our SIM cards. The package we bought was the Happy Tourist SIM 299 package since we were going to be there for 5 days. It's a really good package because we didn't want to worry about incurring additional charges throughout the journey. I was so glad for this because throughout the whole journey we were fully equipped with the internet - we were never lost, and if we were, we could always find a way back to our hotel. So if you're going to Bangkok or any other country, INTERNET IS A MUST.

The weather was so hot and humid. It was so bad when we entered the market we started sweating profusely and I had to spam my face mist multiple times through an hour. It was like Bugis Street but without the air-conditioning and definitely much, much larger. The variety of clothing was massive. But most of them were not my style unfortunately :( I guess it's hard to find good loots because some of the shops tend to have similar things to the ones back home.
After that, our first stop was to mall where we dined at a Japanese restaurant because we were both craving so bad for Jap food and they were having some discounts going on. The portions were greater than expecte and it actually tasted better than most Japanese food I've had back in Singapore.
We choose the Berkeley Hotel for our stay which is located at Pratunam, Bangkok; only one road away from Platinum Mall and a short distance away from Big C Supermarket where we got all our groceries from. If you want the convenience of a shopping center and a supermarket close by, the hotel would be a good option if you have a bigger budget.
It's a 5 star hotel in Bangkok and hence, prices can be quite steep if you're on a tight budget. If you're considering to stay indoor for longer periods of time and want a comfy, atas place to stay then maybe you can consider them. However, since it was still a fairly new hotel at the time of our stay, there were times where they were short on manpower and couldn't accede to our requests. But I s'pose the beautiful room makes up for it! The bed was extra comfy and from our hugeass-window, we could see miles and miles ahead, a whole view of the area. It was especially pretty in the night when all the lights were turned on!
Not forgetting the godly Mango Sticky Rice! I think we tried 3 different variations throughout our trip. It was extremely pleasant for me because mango is my favourite fruit besides strawberry heheh.
The stall we got this one from Platinum Mall's food court allowed us to mix and match the rice - we chose the normal glutinous and pandan flavoured glutinous rice. It tasted really refreshing from the usual! Those little nuts you see at the left hand side also added a good twinge to the flavour. This was probably the best out of the 3.
They also sold crepes there but it doesn't taste as good as it seems. Liang court has better crepes fyi.
Our hotel's bed was ultra comfy! The pillows were really soft and fluffy whereas the blanket gave the right amount of warmth. I'm realllyyyy starting to miss the feeling!

I got to ride on an open air boat for the first time. When I reached
my hand out, I could touch the waves that crashed against the boat as it
speeds through the vast river.
Many times I had gruesome thoughts of the whole boat turning over and us drowning into the deep deep ocean and never being found ever again.... but thankfully my fears were unfounded hehe.
After everyone has got onto the boat, there was a lady would go around collecting the boat fare from the passengers and slotting it into her little cash box. At first we thought she was collecting tips, and being first-timers in Bangkok, we offered some but luckily she told us to pass her the ticket we had bought earlier instead.

But there were some amazing scenes along the way.
It was hot and humid outside - like our usual weather but much hotter. There really wasn't much to see so we walked about for a while before deciding to head back. We couldn't wait to go back to the hotel for the much needed aircon and a nice cold bath!
Can't believe my hair was so short to the extent you could only see my fringe. It has grown alot more now but somehow, I don't really like it as much. I can't wait for my hair to grow so that I can tie them all up - with the crazy hot weather and all nowadays!
My loots for Day 1 - split into two because I forgot about the other half and through the first chunk into the wardrobe already oops. I really regret not buying more on the trip - now as I think about it, scrimping and saving was oh so wrong. Gotta shop till you drop right! In Singapore stress, holiday also stress, then when do I get my rest? D:
The cheap deals and worry-free lifestyle - I can't wait to return.
