It has been one hell of a journey, but now we've reached the end.
Last year I was so troubled - Where do I go? Which group did I belong to? At the SC recruitment, I joined the group where my freshmen BAOC group mostly where. And yet, I felt strangely out of place amongst them, with all their cliques and exclusiveness. I knew that this was not the place I should be. The whole of semester one I mostly spent my time with my books.
Fast forward to the second semester, I knew I was missing out on SO much. I loved company, and I absolutely love outings and meeting new people. But I was nowhere near any of that. Confiding in my new classmates, they asked if I wanted to join Timba with them (what Themis was called before BAOC) and I'm glad to say that was the best decision I've ever made.
Initially I was absolutely awkward and countless time I asked myself if I was doing the right thing, if this was a place I could call home... But as I joined in more and took the initiative to speak up to the others, I slowly grew more comfortable and assured.
BAOC Preparations lasted one month. Being Props I/C was so friggin' exhausting I felt like quitting so many times, but I'm glad that so many people helped along the way and provided the support that made me persevere to BAOC itself. The countless number of hours spent drafting up the skit, perfecting the dances, cutting, painting and drawing the props... It was tough but SO worth it.
To my favouritest Themis 8 SCs, we said we'd meet for 9 days straight and we definitely did. Spending so much time discussing and going out to get identities for our freshies and having special bonding time as well was oh so nice. Thank you for being with me throughout this tough time and for having the same goals as mine - I seriously love y'alls. Pretty sure you guys know how I feel RIGHT ;)
My Themis 8 babies - you guys were the icing to the cake. We hope that you liked our gifts for you. Did you enjoy BAOC? Because with you guys there, we sure did. On the last day we were so proud and happy when some of you cried when we were reminiscing the memories we shared. I hope these past 3 days will be a memory that all of you will be able to keep throughout your poly life - your first family.
To everyone in Themis, especially my SCOs and ASCO, thank you for making my BAOC journey so fruitful and rewarding. With your guidance and support, the whole event was a success and we have finally achieved what we wanted - a FAMILY.
