Taiwanese food at a Bistro
8:08 PM
Hello! :)
Semester exams are OVER YAY. My school had it held much earlier than other polytechnics so I guess I'm one of the first among my friends to start the holidays. But I had lesser time to study though!
It was really stressful since it's sem1, but I'm glad that's over.
Few days ago, I finally had some time to spend with my beloved parents. It's either school or work getting in the way, and it's getting harder for family gatherings. In fact, I think we haven't gone out together as a family in a long time. :(
So we headed for some Chinese cuisine as Mum has been wanting to bring me there for the longest time.
As you can see, it was a 26-dish set so the food kept coming and coming non-stop.
I'm sorry in advance as I do not know which dish is which :(. Most of the dishes were told in Cantonese (which I don't know) and I actually forgot what most of them were, oops.
The food are shown in the order they are served! Since there're so many dishes, every dish is served in a small portion. Don't worry about not getting full though... Even my Dad and Dan who usually eats a whole lot got really full by the time the dessert came.
WATERCRESS SOUP. This tasted really good.
Fried chicken.
Dumpling in a reddish-spicy-hot-looking-but-not-really-hot-at-all soup
Sweet Potato Fries! Tastes better than ordinary fries.
Fried beancurd!
Mum said this was a popular dish that the Taiwanese loved to eat... Not really to my liking though.
Egg with spring onions. Simple, but really quite nice.
Some sort of bazhang wrapped in some kind of leaves. SEE, I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS x(
So much fried oyster in a plate! I love oysters but by the time the dish came my tummy was on the verge of exploding. It tasted really good though so if you like oysters you should try this.
The dessert came altogether on this big bowl. On the right side are lychee jellies, left are mint ice shavings with toppings and the drinks if I'm not wrong were mango with pomelo bits.
They actually served us the beehoon last. I don't know if they were smart or trying to troll us, but we were all so full by the time it came. How to eat even? Thought of ordering rice initially but lucky we didn't.
Really thought they could have served the food that were coming in a more organised manner.

I hope I haven't made you guys TOO hungry while reading this.
The restaurant is called Shin Yeh Bistro and is at Novena Square. This Taiwanese "buffet" is quite a new implementation and a minimum of 4 people is required to dine in order to choose the 26-dish set.
Overall I really thought the food wasn't that bad. But I think that Taiwanese dishes aren't suited to my taste buds, so they would have to stay off abit.
Any good foodie places in Singapore? A man can never have enough food!
Thanks for reading loves, that's all for now.
xx
